Acai is the original Brazilian super fruit! It is native to the Amazon, it is grown on Acai Palm Trees in the rainforests of Central and South America, where they are a staple food. Recently, it has gained global popularity for its many health and well being benefits. While Acai Berries are incredibly healthy, we have not yet found the ideal method of consumption here in the states. Acai bowls, juices and purees are all popular….but they have high amounts of added sugar, which make it unhealthy. Here at The Golden Leaf we had a bright idea…..add real freeze dried Organic Acai Berries (with skin and pulp) to naturally sweet aged balsamic vinegar…..and you have a treat that is both healthy and delicious!

The first ever pure Acai Balsamic Vinegar is incredibly high in antioxidants! Blueberry have an antioxidant capacity or ORAC score of 4,669. Acai Berries on the other hand, have an ORAC score of 15,405!! Gram for gram, it has more antioxidants than any fruit or berry out there! The antioxidant anthocyanin is responsible for improving HDL or good cholesterol and reducing LDL or bad cholesterol. This antioxidant also boosts brain function. Normally, blending in fruit or vegetables would cause oxidation. When you leave an apple out and exposed, it turns brown. This is oxidation. Oxygen much like water, can not only cause fruit to rapidly expire without preservatives, but neutralizes the antioxidant activity. As our fruits are freeze-dried, expiration is not a concern, but we did want to make sure our superior nutritional profile was not hampered by oxidation. Vacuum blending also provides a profoundly more fresh and flavorful taste.
