The mangosteen is a small purplish fruit that is grown in Southeast Asia. It is often referred to as The Queen of Fruits. Aptly named for its many health benefits and no doubt as well as for Queen Victoria, who actually offered a knighthood to anyone who could bring her fresh mangosteens. They grow on trees that reach 20 to 80 feet tall. These trees were believed to have originated in the islands of Sunda and Cholucca in the East Indies. It takes up to nine years for the tree to mature, before bearing any fruit for harvest.
The mangosteen is rich in powerful antioxidants that are very unique. Xanthones are unique plant compounds, with strong antioxidant properties that give the mangosteen all of its amazing benefits.
